LaVar Ball may have pulled his son LaMelo out of Chino Hills High School because he didn't get his way.

The outspoken father of three announced Monday he's going to home-school the 16-year-old for the next two years and "make him the best basketball player ever."

LaVar blamed the decision to abandon Chino Hills on its "knucklehead" new coach, Dennis Latimore.

School district superintendent Wayne Joseph says LaVar asked Latimore to add "four or five" players to the varsity team several months ago, according to the Los Angeles Times' Eric Sondheimer. Latimore and Joseph both denied the request, resulting in LaMelo's withdrawal.

"We respect his decision," Joseph said. "He and his wife have done a magnificent job with their kids."

LaVar plans to train LaMelo himself. His eldest son Lonzo is embarking on his rookie campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers, while the middle child LiAngelo plays for UCLA.
