Arizona's Alkins to miss 8-12 weeks after foot surgery

The news hasn't been good for college basketball or Arizona the last few days, and it got worse for the Wildcats on Wednesday. Sophomore Rawle Alkins will miss an estimated 8-12 weeks after breaking his foot, the school confirmed.
Alkins apparently hurt himself during voluntary activities and underwent surgery Wednesday. The 6-foot-5 guard was Arizona's third-leading scorer as a freshman last season, and entered the NBA Draft Combine before deciding to return to school.
It's already been a rough week for Arizona, with assistant coach Emanuel (Book) Richardson being arrested as part of a wide-ranging FBI probe into corruption in NCAA basketball. The school subsequently cancelled Wednesday's Media Day as a result.
