5-star PG Brandon Williams commits to Arizona

Arizona head coach Sean Miller earned a massive recruiting victory Tuesday as five-star point guard Brandon Williams told Jeff Borzello and Jeff Goodman of ESPN that he's committed to the Wildcats.

Williams is ranked No. 16 on the ESPN 60 for the class of 2018, and is currently the No. 3 point guard in the nation for that age group.

"They've been there from the beginning, since eighth grade. They were the first school to recruit me," Williams said of Arizona. "The addition with (assistant) coach (Lorenzo) Romar only helped me out. They are starting to do a lot more ball screens, which fits my game. Also, my relationship with the coaching staff is great. That's very important."

"They need me to be the point guard," Williams added. "They haven't had that guard in a while. They need me to just do what I do now, create for myself as well as for my teammates."

The number of teams hoping for a commitment from Williams was large, and the California native received offers from Cal, Gonzaga, Kansas, UCLA, and USC, among others.
