73 players pulled out of NBA draft to return to school

The deadline to remain in the NBA draft or return to college came and went Wednesday, and the league announced a whopping 73 players decided another year at school was the best decision for them.

A total of 137 early entry candidates declared for the NBA draft, with those declining to hire an agent leaving open the possibility of returning to college. Those players invited to the scouting combine were allowed to attend, and individual workouts with NBA teams were permitted.

Through that process, the players were able to gather information and make informed decisions as to whether they were ready for the professional ranks.

With only two rounds in the NBA draft, just 60 players will hear their names called, and when international players and graduating college players are factored in, the 64 that remain in the draft are set for a nervous night June 22nd.
