Mo Alie-Cox is trying to take his talents to the next level, just in a different sport.
The VCU basketball forward informed NFL teams that he'll be working out for them as a tight end, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Alie-Cox is 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, so he certainly has the size to fill the role.
The question is, does Alie-Cox have the skill? Well, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten believes he does. Witten attended a VCU game in 2015 and was impressed by Alie-Cox's athleticism.
"He (Witten) told me I could make the transition to football," Alie-Cox told Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports in 2015. "He said if it's something I wanted to do I should look into it."
Alie-Cox last played the sport as a freshman in high school, but there are plenty of examples of college basketball players who became NFL tight ends. Antonio Gates, Julius Thomas, and Jimmy Graham not only made the jump, but have enjoyed tremendous success.
