Miller had much to say about what supporters can look forward to as he takes the reins following a disappointing 18-16 season which saw the nine-year tenure of former head coach Tom Crean come to an end.

The 38-year old took the opportunity to thank Dayton, his former employer, for believing in him as a first-time head coach and allowing him to grow the program into what it is today.
"What we accomplished at Dayton with some tweaks can work here," Miller said. "Our family is forever grateful for the University of Dayton. They took a chance on me when I was 0-0."

Miller then got right down to business and addressed multiple topics surrounding the direction of the Indiana basketball program.
"The reason I'm here, and I really believe this, is the state of Indiana," Miller said. "In many ways, the state of Indiana is me."
One of the hot-button topics almost assuredly on many fans' minds was how Miller plans to address recruiting, as well as the current roster of players left from Crean's recruiting class. The new head coach was very clear and composed in both his assessment and his goals.
"These players, I didn't recruit them, but they are my players. I think there is value to every individual on my team," Miller said, later adding, "We have to start inside the state of Indiana and we have to start moving out very slowly because the footprint is here."
Miller also cited Ohio State head coach Thad Matta as giving him an important piece of advice, Matta telling him "you need to spend less time on the plays and more time on the players."
"They're going to be pushed very hard on and off the floor," Miller said of his players. "There is an expectation that comes with being an Indiana University player."
Miller closed his press conference by asserting that when all is said and done, Indiana is going to have a coaching staff like none other.
"We're going to build the best staff in college basketball, that's my goal," Miller said. "How that unfolds is by the minute. I'm the head coach at Indiana University, which we all know is one of the proud, proud places, and there's a lot of expectations around here, and our current players, as I've told them, are going to play for a tremendous staff."
Miller's older brother, Sean, who currently serves as head coach of Arizona, also released a statement congratulating his brother, calling him the "total package as a major college basketball coach," and adding that Archie and Indiana "will do magical things together."
