Saint Joseph's has lost leading scorer Shavar Newkirk for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL, the program announced Sunday.
The guard suffered the injury in Friday's game against George Washington. He's scheduled to undergo surgery in three-to-four weeks, the school said.
Newkirk, a junior, was enjoying a breakout season for the Hawks, averaging a career-high 20.3 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists, also career-bests.
Saint Joseph's will take a 7-5 record into a Tuesday affair with Rhode Island.
