SMU lost a key component of its 2016 recruiting class Friday as power forward Ted Kapita has reportedly decommitted.

The 6-foot-8, 235-pound big man from Huntington, W.Va. has elected to leave the Mustangs and is currently on a visit to NC State, a source told CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.

Kapita originally intended to sign with Arkansas last season, but failed to qualify academically because of a low ACT score. He is currently ranked 71st on the ESPN 300.

Prior to his original commitment to Arkansas, Kapita also had offers from Florida, Kansas, and South Florida.
