The 2016 recruiting period is almost done, with just six of ESPN's top 100 recruits unsigned, but another highly-touted name has joined the fray in a surprise move.
Markell Johnson, a point guard out of Cleveland, announced on Twitter Monday that he will graduate a year early and be eligible for college action in the fall.
According to ESPN, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Johnson was the 53rd-ranked player in the 2017 class, and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Ohio. He is one of the top point guard prospects in that recruitment class, and currently holds offers from 17 Division I schools, including Florida, Louisville, West Virginia, N.C. State, and Ohio State.
