Grizzlies castoff Russ Smith scores D-League record 65 points
Russ Smith set a NBA Development League record Wednesday night with a 65-point explosion for the Delaware 87ers against the Canton Charge.
The 87ers still lost, 140-129.

Smith was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 29, and the team has since been overwhelmed by injuries. Twenty-seven players have suited up for Memphis this season as a result. To be fair, Smith couldn't crack the Grizzlies rotation, playing a total of 66 minutes this season and averaging 1.5 points in 15 games.
Smith breaks the previous D-League record, 61 points, set by Jordan McRae less than two months ago. Interestingly enough, McRae also did it for the 87ers against the Charge. Delaware managed to win that contest, however.
