Johnson and the Nets have opened buyout negotiations, Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis:
The 34-year-old is in the final year of his massive, six-year, $123.7 million contract, and with the Nets bound for the draft lottery, Johnson will look to jump ship and presumably sign with a contender. Assuming negotiations progress before the March 1 deadline, Johnson would be eligible to play in the postseason, and the likes of the Cavaliers, Raptors, Heat, Celtics, Hawks, Thunder, and Rockets are all reported to be interested.
