Free agent swingman Joe Johnson has committed to a deal with the Miami Heat and will join them upon clearing waivers, according to the league sources of The Vertical's Shams Charania.
Johnson reportedly narrowed his list of teams to potentially join down to the Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday following his buyout with the Brooklyn Nets.
The 34-year-old is expected to clear waivers on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.
Johnson's averaging 17.0 points, 4.2 assists, and 4.1 assists over his career, and should give a boost to the Heat's offensively limited bench.
