VIDEO: Ryan Kelly, the preseason's top dunker

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

There's a lot to be excited about in Hollywood this season.

While the Los Angeles Lakers may not be playoff-bound, they're set to take a step in the right direction toward that eventual end. There's rookie D'Angelo Russell, breakout sophomore Jordan Clarkson, and returning youngster Julius Randle. There's also the return of Kobe Bryant and the addition of defensive-minded big man "Black Bogut."

But there may be no storyline more exciting, no premiere more anticipated, no star shining more brightly than Ryan Kelly and his preseason 2000 Vince Carter impersonation. "Half-Man (Bun), Half-Amazing" followed up Monday's game-winning dunk with another emphatic hammer, this time with Golden State Warriors sixth-man extraordinaire Andre Iguodala as the nail.

Kelly is averaging 6.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 14.5 minutes in the preseason. That's roughly the role that can be expected for him as a reserve combo-forward this season, down from the 23.7 minutes he averaged on a thinner Lakers squad a season ago.

But the value of a dunker isn't measured in silly things like minutes. It's measured in moments.
