Briante Weber: Signs with Heat
Weber signed with the Heat on Monday.
Analysis:
Weber went undrafted out of VCU this summer while recovering from an ACL tear, and after failing a physical earlier in training camp, it appears the guard has now received a clean bill of health from the team's medical staff. The 22-year-old is regarded as a potential shutdown defender on the perimeter, as he averaged 2.94 steals per game over his four years at VCU and was on track to set the NCAA record for career swipes before the injury occurred. Due to his limited training camp time, Weber likely won't start the season in the rotation and could even receive an assignment to the D-League, but with Mario Chalmers rumored to be on the the trading block, he could potentially find the floor at some point later on.
