Teammates rib Barbosa over visa issues, late arrival to training camp
While Tristan Thompson holds out on the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team's 2015 NBA Finals rivals no longer have reason to stress about the absence of one of their own role players.
Leandro Barbosa has finally joined the Golden State Warriors' preseason training camp, reports the San Francisco Chronicle's Rusty Simmons, after the reserve guard was held up in his native Brazil due to visa issues.
But the 32-year-old veteran's tardy arrival didn't escape the wrath of his teammates.
"(They) were killing me," Barbosa joked.
"They thought that I was (in Brazil), just because this was training camp. They thought I was having fun over there. They've been here hurting in practices, and I was chilling, waiting for the week to pass, because next week is easier."
Barbosa - who hails from Sao Paulo - endured a 15-hour flight back to California after his visa-related complications were resolved.
"The other players who have been through it, they know how it goes. But the American guys, they were killing me."
Having missed the team's first two days of training camp, Barbosa took his physical Thursday, and was able to join his running mates on the hardwood Friday.
The Dubs kick off their preseason with a game versus the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 5, and officially commence their NBA title defense on Oct. 27 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
