PHOTOS: August is NBA crop maze season

The paucity of NBA activity in the month of August evidently has farmers across the country itching for professional basketball.

While a rebuilding season awaits the Portland Trail Blazers, a pumpkin patch in Sauvie Island, Ore., is showing its Rip City colors - complete with a hashtag tribute to late Blazers forward Jerome Kersey, who passed away last February.

Meanwhile, down south, a fan of the Memphis Grizzlies - the team that knocked the Blazers out of last season's playoffs - has etched a giant likeness of center Marc Gasol into some crops.

With this type of visibility, odds are good the Blazers and Grizzlies become the preferred NBA teams of space aliens.
