Glen "Big Baby" Davis could be heading overseas, as Sportando reports that the eight-year NBA veteran will consider playing in China if he can't work out a favorable deal stateside.
Davis, whom the Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly still optimistic about re-signing, could also explore opportunities in the top European leagues.
China might represent Davis' best bet to beat his potential NBA salary. The CBA also usually ends before the NBA's playoff-eligibility date, meaning he could cash in on a Chinese deal and still return to the U.S. in time to join a playoff team.
In entertaining a jump to China, Davis could be trying to create leverage in his negotiations with the Clippers, but L.A. is well over the luxury-tax line and likely can't offer the LSU product much more than the veteran minim ($1.4 million for a player with Davis' service time).
Losing Davis from the NBA would be a big hit for fans, as the affable power forward is a frequent presence on highlight and outtake reels.
Davis is also probably still an NBA-caliber player, having averaged four points and 2.3 rebounds in 74 games for the Clippers in 2014-15. He's averaged eight points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 44.7 percent over 514 career games. He'd likely stand as the team's fifth big man if he re-signed.
