The Chuck Wagon could be pulling back into the station from which it embarked.

Chuck Hayes was spotted with members of the Houston Rockets staff on Monday, and his agent confirmed Tuesday that the two sides have mutual interest in a reunion, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.

Undrafted out of Kentucky, Hayes was one of the very first D-League success stories. A strong 15 games as a rookie there landed him a chance with the Rockets in 2006, and he'd stay with Houston through the end of the 2010-11 season. He then signed with the Sacramento Kings, who later dealt him to the Toronto Raptors.

The ground-bound 6-foot-6 center has appeared in 642 career games, averaging 3.7 points and five rebounds in 18.4 minutes while shooting 49.8 percent. Known as a great locker room presence and a solid, if undersized, post defender, Hayes offers a team veteran leadership and some help on the glass from deep on the bench.

The Rockets already have Joey Dorsey on a guaranteed contract to fill that third center role, but interior depth is always of value over an 82-game season.
