VIDEO: Kent Bazemore makes incredible chase-down block on Drew Gooden

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Drew Gooden probably wishes Kent would Baze a little less.

The 33-year-old had a layup attempt absolutely erased by Kent Bazemore in incredible fashion during the first quarter of Game 5 on Wednesday, with the springy guard racing the floor to disrespect his elder.

Gooden was out in transition thanks to a tidy outlet pass and appeared to have Dennis Schroder beat, but Bazemore flew in and turned his body in mid-air, getting between Gooden and the rim for an amazing swat:

Bazemost!

The Atlanta Hawks had five first-quarter blocks, helping them to a 23-19 lead over the Washington Wizards after one frame. Atlanta's defense had abandoned them some through the first four games of the series, and the youthful exuberance The Bazed God can bring off the bench appears to have raised the defensive intensity early.

Bazemore entered Wednesday averaging 17 minutes in the series, right in line with his season mark of 17.7. He's averaging six points on 66.7-percent shooting and has knocked down 3-of-5 from outside.
