Report: Barcelona's Mario Hezonja to declare for NBA draft
One of the brightest stars in European basketball has declared for the 2015 NBA Draft.
Swingman Mario Hezonja, a 20-year-old, 6-foot-8 native of Croatia, will enter his name into the draft, reports Fran Fraschilla of ESPN. He's projected to go seventh overall based on the latest DraftExpress rankings.
Hezonja averaged 7.7 points and two rebounds while logging 16.5 points per game in 22 games for FC Barcelona in Euroleague action. The small forward shot 38.2 percent from deep and has athleticism in spades.
It's unclear how Hezonja's game will translate to the NBA. He played sparingly for FC Barcelona, but has shown flashes of a tight handle, a refined catch-and-shoot game and solid defensive awareness. Taken together, Hezonja certainly has the skillset and build of a top prospect.
However, Hezonja has been critiqued for occasional lapses in focus and poor awareness within a team concept. The majority of his plays come in isolation or on pick-and-pops.
