Pacers president Larry Bird said he doesn't anticipate re-signing Watson next season, Candace Buckner of the Indy Star reports.
Analysis:
Watson's two-year deal is up this summer, and Bird was frank in telling reporters that he doesn't expect to bring the veteran back. The 30-year-old averaged 10.0 points and 3.6 assists in 24.9 minutes and made 21 starts while George Hill battled early-season injuries. While Watson has proven to be a reliable backup point guard, he apparently doesn't fit the mold of what Indiana is looking for going forward.
