Knicks sign Ricky Ledo for remainder of the season
The New York Knicks will get one more week to evaluate Ricky Ledo.
The team signed Ledo for the remainder of the season Wednesday following a relatively successful pair of 10-day contracts.
In the eight games with the Knicks, Ledo averaged 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 21.1 minutes, by far the biggest audition he's gotten in his two seasons in the league. Ledo had previously played 16 games over this year and last with the Dallas Mavericks, totaling just 169 minutes.
The biggest key to Ledo's small-sample success has been his hot outside shooting, as he's gone 9-of-21 from deep for the Knicks. If he can keep that mark close to the 40-percent - he's shot 31.1 percent in 65 career D-League games - he could carve out a role in the NBA, but without that ability, the 22-year-old's claim to a roster spot is tenuous.
