Neither Dwyane Wade nor Luol Deng will suit up for the Miami Heat on Friday against the Washington Wizards.
Deng had been listed as doubtful earlier in the day with a thigh contusion, but Wade's absence came as a surprise, and was announced 20 minutes before tipoff. The team said Wade has a sore right hip.
As a result, the Heat are severely undermanned against a Southeast Division rival, starting Tyler Johnson and Henry Walker in the wounded wings' place.
Wade had played the last eight games since returning from a hamstring injury that kept him out seven straight contests. He and Deng represent 35.3 points per game for Miami.
