VIDEO: J.R. Smith is probably owed a flop warning for this
Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports
Hey, at least J.R. Smith is trying on defense.
It's not working particularly well, but he gets an 'A' for effort for his performance on Friday.
As the second half opened against the Indiana Pacers, Smith face-guarded Solomon Hill on the perimeter. Hill swung the ball through and began to drive forward, pushing off on Smith as his opponent reached in.
Realizing he was beat, or perhaps just noticing the contact late, Smith decided to try and draw an offensive foul on Hill.
Smith may get a call from the league office for this one. He's yet to receive a flop warning this season, so he'd avoid a fine in this case, though he does have a flop fine on his record from 2013.
