Phil Jackson: Knicks give basketball gods heartburn

J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert made a triumphant return to Madison Square Garden as Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, laughing the New York Knicks off their home court.

Sunday night, Knicks president Phil Jackson wasn't watching the Oscars. He was lamenting his team's pitiful performance on Twitter instead. 

"Each NBA game is an opportunity for players to show their 'best' nature and please the basketball gods, and those who know what 'it' takes," Jackson tweeted. 

He added:

The Knicks have left Jackson shaking his head, in real life and on social media. 

The Cavaliers drubbed the Knicks by 18. It was New York's seventh straight loss, and they remain winless without Carmelo Anthony and an NBA-worst 10-45. 

Making matters worse was the fact Smith had 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, adding three rebounds, four assists, a steal, and two blocks. He and Shumpert also hooked up for a breathtaking reverse alley-oop, one of Shumpert's seven assists on the afternoon:

Jackson's first year in the Knicks' front office has gone about as poorly as possible, and was punctuated by Smith's nasty throwdown. This edition of the Knicks is set to go down as the worst in team history.
