Teams in search of a veteran point guard, hoping that Jameer Nelson might once again become available, may be disappointed, as Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Denver Nuggets aren't planning to buy Nelson out.
Citing league sources, Wojnarowski says that when the Nuggets acquired Nelson in the January trade that sent Nate Robinson to Boston, they did so with the intention of keeping him around.
Nelson has a player option worth over $2.8 million for next season.
The 33-year-old, 11-year veteran is averaging 7.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.6 rebounds in over 23 minutes per game. His shooting has continued to plummet with age, as Nelson boasts an ugly effective field goal percentage of 46.1, but he can still provide spot minutes as a capable ball handler off of the bench.
