Manu Ginobili sitting out for rest on Monday

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs will be without shooting guard Manu Ginobili on Monday when they take on the Indiana Pacers.

The Spurs often rest players on the second night of a travel back-to-back, which they've said is the reason for Ginobili's absence Monday, even though they normally announce such plans in advance. Ginobili played 27 minutes in a loss on Sunday, scoring nine points and dishing three assists.

Ginobili was spotted limping late in the game but there was no report of injury. He's missed six games this season, though has yet to be sidelined for more than a game at a time.

In the 45 games he has played, the 37-year-old Argentine is averaging 12 points, three rebounds and 4.8 assists. He's performed well for the most part, propping up the team's second unit as always and improving the team's play by 7.9 points per-100 possessions when he's on the floor. However, his offense has been the least efficient since his 2002-03 rookie season, with a 16.4 PER and 53.3 true shooting percentage.

His absence will mean extended run off the bench for any of Cory Joseph, Patty Mills or Marco Belinelli.
