Anthony Davis questionable Friday with groin strain

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

NEW ORLEANS - Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis says he is unsure if he'll be ready to return from a left groin strain in time for Friday night's tip-off against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Davis says he'll do everything in his power ''to try to be on the floor,'' but that the decision is not really his.

Davis says he'll run through pre-game warm-ups, tell trainers and doctors how he feels and that head coach Monty Williams will make the final call.

The Pelicans' leading scorer and rebounder was hurt while crashing down after a midair collision with Denver's Kenneth Faried near the basket on Wednesday night.

Davis says he remains a bit sore, and was considered day-to-day as of Thursday (read the story below).

After Friday, the Pelicans have the weekend off before hosting Atlanta on Monday night.
