Pelicans' Davis sidelined with toe injury
The New Orleans Pelicans have played two games this season without superstar Anthony Davis and lost both - the last one by 15 points to the lowly Philadelphia 76ers.
New Orleans will be searching for better results on Sunday when it visits the slumping the Toronto Raptors, who are 2-6 over their last eight.
Davis will miss his second consecutive game with a toe injury, but Pelicans coach Monty Williams is hopeful the power forward can suit up for New Orleans' next contest Monday against the New York Knicks.
"He had a good workout (Sunday), but he still had some soreness," Williams said, according to NBA.com's Jim Eichenhofer. "We feel like the best way to go about it is to re-evaluate (Sunday) and give him the best chance of playing (Monday)."
Davis is averaging a team-leading 24.2 points, 10.4 rebounds and leads the NBA with 2.92 blocks per game.
Point guard Jrue Holiday is also out. He's dealing with ankle inflammation and will miss his third consecutive game.
