Tayshaun Prince's stay in Boston will be brief.
After acquiring the 13-year veteran swingman on Monday, the Boston Celtics are reportedly working on a buyout agreement with Prince, reports Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.
Prince was acquired to match outgoing salaries in a three-team trade that saw Jeff Green land with the Memphis Grizzlies. The 34-year-old Prince was never expected to stay in Boston, as he's in the final year of his contract.
If a buyout is secured, Prince will hit free agency with no shortage of suitors. Despite sliding into a net negative on offense, Prince remains a savvy defender who can play spot minutes for a number of contending teams.
In 24 games with the Grizzlies this season, Prince averaged 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 24.2 minutes.
