Wiggins' 1st career double-double helps Timberwolves upset Trail Blazers
Andrew Wiggins helped the Minnesota Timberwolves end a six-game losing streak Wednesday, while also starting a streak of his own.
The prized rookie scored 23 points in the Timberwolves' 90-82 upset win over the Portland Trail Blazers. It was Wiggins' second straight 20-plus-point performance after he dropped 21 in a loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday.
With 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals to go along with his 23 points, Wiggins also recorded his first career double-double.
Corey Brewer added 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals for Minnesota.
As for the Blazers, they saw their five-game winning streak come to an end and suffered their first divisional loss of the season, as Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge combined to shoot a putrid 12-of-38 from the field.
At 17-5, Portland already has a comfortable lead in the Northwest Division, but losses to lowly teams like the T-Wolves could help the suddenly healthy Oklahoma City Thunder at least make things interesting as the season wears on.
