Report: Raptors' DeRozan hopes to return from torn adductor tendon within 4 weeks
Although there's no official timeline for Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan to return from a torn adductor tendon, Sam Amick of USA Today reported that the Raptors swingman hopes to return within four weeks.
DeRozan suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Raptors' Friday night loss at the hands of the visiting Dallas Mavericks. He slipped on a drive to the basket and was forced to leave the game.
Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports noted DeRozan's status will be reassessed within a week.
Assuming DeRozan is out four weeks, he will miss the Raptors' next 14 contests. During that time, they are slated to take on the upstart Sacramento Kings, the talented Cleveland Cavaliers (twice) and the Chicago Bulls. He is currently travelling with the team on the eve of a three-game Western Conference road trip.
One of guards Greivis Vasquez and Lou Williams or small forward James Johnson will likely start in DeRozan's absence. None of the three are capable of replicating DeRozan's skill set, so head coach Dwane Casey will likely mix and match depending on the opponent.
