Isaiah Thomas out again Friday with ankle bruise
The Phoenix Suns will be without their microwave man off the bench on Friday when they take on the Denver Nuggets.
Isaiah Thomas will miss his second consecutive game due to a right ankle bruise, leaving the Suns with just, oh, about half a dozen point guards. Tyler Ennis is active as a result, but is unlikely to play, considering the Suns just leaned more heavily on starters Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe with Thomas out on Wednesday.
In 15 games this season, Thomas has looked comfortable in his new home. He's averaging 15.5 points and 4.1 assists in just 23.6 minutes, posting a robust player efficiency rating of 23 and improving the Suns' offense by 2.3 points per-100 possessions when he takes the floor.
His absence hurts for more than just the lack of bench scoring. The Suns are still trying to find the best way to utilize all three point guards together effectively, and the early-season reps to figure it out are important. Phoenix won without Thomas on Wednesday, but that's not the only goal right now, and Thomas being sidelined could slow the team's progress as a whole.
