Carmelo Anthony likely out for remainder of Knicks' road trip
New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is expected to miss the rest of the team's road trip while battling back spasms, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post.
Anthony left Monday's loss against the Houston Rockets with back spasms late in the first half and did not return. The Knicks sent Anthony to a Houston specialist to receive pain medication that is not legally allowed to be stored in the arena, a team official said.
Head coach Derek Fisher was unsure of the condition of Anthony's back on Tuesday.
"As far as I'm aware, back spasms aren't really something that you can push or rush," said Fisher, according to Scott Cacciola of The New York Times. "Until you can actually play without being in spasms, there isn't really anything you can do. Hopefully that will be soon. His back will be the only indicator of how soon that can be. I don't think there's anything we can necessarily do to rush that right now."
New York will face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
