Charlotte Bobcats officially become Hornets on May 20
The Charlotte Bobcats will be no more after a decade of mostly forgettable work on the court.
On May 20, the team officially becomes the Charlotte Hornets, the same day as the NBA Draft Lottery. The team will hold a press conference at 12:30 p.m. ET to formally acknowledge the buzz.
Bobcats Sports and Entertainment applied to change the team's name to the Hornets on May 21, 2013, and the league approved the name change in July.
