Smith took a ridiculous 22 3-point attempts on the day, hitting 10 to finish with 32 points. Let's have a look at the records he set.
*His 22 3-point attempts are an NBA record, passing the 21 Damon Stoudamire took back in 2005.
*If this all sounds familiar, it's because Smith also hit eight threes on Friday, making him the first player to ever do so in back-to-back games.
*Smith has now hit 24 threes over his past three games, which, you guessed it, happens to be an NBA record.
*It also marks the 10th time in his career he's hit eight triples in an outing, pushing him past Ray Allen for the most such games in league history.
*It's the fifth time he's hit nine or more in a game and the third time he's hit 10 or more in a game, also NBA records.
*For what it's worth, he's the only player ever to attempt 18 threes in a game more than once.
Despite only playing 688 career games, Smith has already made his way up the NBA's all-time 3-point shooting leaderboards. While that's in part due to the proliferation of the 3-point shot, his status is impressive nonetheless - he ranks 35th in career attempts with 3,510, 31st in career makes with 1,299 and first in both for players with fewer than 700 games played.
