Fantasy Fadeaway: Nuggets' Lawson has the Midas touch since returning from injury

Isaiah J. Downing / USA TODAY Sports

Here's a look at some of the top players to target in daily fantasy basketball leagues for Sunday, March 9.

Point Guard

Ty Lawson, PG, Nuggets (at Pelicans) - Lawson has been one of the better point guard plays this season and he's taken his game to a new level since returning from a heel injury in early March. The 26-year-old has twice topped 30 points in his three games since getting back in the lineup, posting 27.0 points, 11.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game.

Value Play - Pistons PG Will Bynum was our value play on Friday night and he delivered with 17 points, three assists, three rebounds and one steal in 21 minutes of action against the Timberwolves. Bynum was also 2-for-2 from 3-point range in the game. The Piston's backup will receive a tougher challenge from the Celtics, but should continue to provide solid workmanlike fantasy points at the bottom of your roster.

Shooting Guard/Small Forward

Tyreke Evans, SG/SF, Pelicans (vs. Nuggets) - The Pelicans and Nuggets have the second highest over-under on Sunday and that means plenty of opportunity for fantasy owners to capitalize. Evans has been mentioned in this space before and continues to excel since being inserted back in the starting lineup. Enjoy having him on your team while his price is still reasonable… Suns SG/SF Gerald Green is playing some of the best basketball of his career and with Klay Thompson potentially dealing with an injury, Green's outlook becomes that much brighter in a matchup with the Warriors.

Value Play - Raptors SG/SF Terrence Ross missed a game earlier in the week with an ankle injury, but he got back on the court with an 18-point effort against the Kings on Friday. Ross connected on six 3-pointers, shooting .750 percentage from the arc. When Ross' shot is falling, he's a quality low-cost option, just don't expect much outside of points from the Raptors' second-year swingman, even in a favorable matchup with the Timberwolves.

Power Forward/Center

LaMarcus Aldridge, PF/C, Trail Blazers (at Rockets) - Aldridge came off his minute restriction to play 37 minutes against the Mavericks on Friday and had 30 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Aldridge is tied for seventh in the league in scoring (23.6 ppg) and is also seventh in rebounding (11.2 rpg). In three outings against the Rockets this season, Aldridge has run wild with 26.3 ppg, 16.7 rpg, as well as 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Get him on your daily roster and let the man go to work.

Value Play - Coming full circle, we end up back on the Nuggets and C Timofey Mozgov. The Nuggets' center has been given chances to prove himself among Denver's starters and so far hasn't impressed. That being said, he is still a capable center and comes at price that will keep your expectations in check. If you spend your dollars elsewhere, Mozgov is worthy of a look as a bargain big man.
