GIF: James Johnson goes off-backboard for self-alley-oop on neck tattoo night

It's neck tattoo giveaway night in Memphis, a promotion to show a little love for surprising Grizzlies wing James Johnson, who has been a minor revelation so far this season.

Picked up off the scrap heap, the heavily-inked Johnson has carved out a role playing 21.8 minutes a night for Dave Joerger. He's averaging 8.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists while providing gritty and versatile defense, traits that also made the Grizzly faithful fall in love with The Grindfather, Tony Allen.

But we don't think Allen has ever done what Johnson did on Friday night, going off-window to himself for an alley-oop:
