John Wall probably won't do Dunk Contest unless other stars join in

John Wall is expected to make a decision on his participation in NBA All-Star Weekend sometime this week but things aren't looking good for fans who want to see Wall in the Slam Dunk Contest.

Wall is already slated to play in Sunday's All-Star Game but has received an invite to dunk or take part in the skills competition. The Washington Wizards point guard is dealing with sore feet, though, and is unsure if he'll risk further discomfort for the event.

However, Wall would reportedly consider it "if the competition involved superstars."

That's a nice idea and something fans often clamor for, but there are a few issues with loading the contest up with All-Stars. Like Wall, players may prefer to get additional rest. In addition, the league likely enjoys the event showcasing younger, lesser-known talent to help build more marketable stars.

Perhaps the best route is a mix of stars and younger players, assuming they can get a few Wall-types in the event.
