Terrence Ross ties Raptors franchise record with 51 points
Move over Vince Carter, there's a new name with you atop the Toronto Raptors record book.
Yes, 14 years after Carter dropped 51 points on the Phoenix Suns, Raptors sophomore Terrence Ross scored 51 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
It was, in a word, incredible.
Ross shot 16-of-29 overall, 10-of-17 from three and was completely unguardable. He also missed a free throw with a few seconds left on the clock that would have given him sole possession of the record. It was the only free throw he missed all night.
Needless to say, the 51 points blow away Ross' previous career-high of 26. His 10 threes are also the second most in franchise history behind Donyell Marshall's NBA-record 12 in 2005.
He also became the first player ever to drop a 50-piece while averaging fewer than 10 points a game (he came in averaging 9.3 and will leave at 10.2).

He also threw down a pair of terrific dunks, the first a put-back and the second an alley-oop:
The Raptors lost, however, 126-118. They played most of the second half without top-scorer DeMar DeRozan (sprained left foot) and as good as they were on offense, they just couldn't get stops. Jamal Crawford managed 37 points of his own and Blake Griffin had 30 to boot.
It's a disappointing waste of an incredible game but a fun night for Raptors fans nonetheless.
