The Los Angeles Clippers could get a major boost on Friday, as sweet-shooting two-guard J.J. Redick may be able to suit up.
The Duke product has been out since Nov. 29 with a broken pisiform (a small bone near the base of the pinky) in his right hand and a torn right ulnar collateral ligament.
While the Clippers are 24-13, they're shooting just 33.3 percent on threes, Redick's area of expertise. Before the injury, he was averaging 15.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists, shooting at a 35.9 percent long-range clip that is below his usual lofty standards.
Perhaps just as important is Redick's ability to work as a secondary ball-handler. With Chris Paul out for several more weeks with a shoulder injury, the guard rotation is thin; Redick averaged 3.8 assists last season and has shown an ability to share lead guard duties when called upon.
