Report: Knicks free to ditch unlucky orange jerseys
Following Sunday's drubbing at the hands of the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks have now suffered their three worst losses of the season when wearing their all-orange alternate jersey. Overall, they're 0-6 in the pumpkin chic.
Losses by 31, 20 and 41 points may see the Knicks reconsider wearing the jersey, something a New York Post report says is okay from the league's point of view.
According to an NBA official, the Knicks have now fulfilled the minimum requirement for the number of times they have to wear the brand new, all-orange jerseys that appear as haunted as Halloween.
The NBA official told The Post the Knicks can wear the uniforms a maximum of 18 times this season and no fewer than six times under league rules.
Raymond Felton had joked about the jersey being unlucky earlier but wasn't playing around after Sunday's loss.
"Nothing to joke about now. I’m not in a joking mood. I’m not superstitious about anything. You play in whatever you play in, whatever jersey color, whatever shoes.," Felton said.
Carmelo Anthony also shot down the jersey superstition, but it will be interesting to see if owner James Dolan calls for a cease.
