Bruins commanding more for tickets than Celtics from Boston fans

After a change in fortunes for both the Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics in recent years, the Boston Globe reports that the secondary ticket market for their respective games at TD Garden has flipped.

For the Bruins, fans are paying double the face value of tickets to sold-out games on websites such as StubHub.com. In fact, according to TiqIQ, the average sale price for a regular-season ticket on the secondary market is $218.75, 35 percent higher than it was at the start of last season.

The Bruins are also offering a high-end ticket package that includes up to 20 seats in an executive suite with a legendary player such as Ray Bourque or Johnny Bucyk — for $10,000 to $15,000 per game.

The going rate for a seat at a Celtics game, however, is $115.23 on the secondary market, or the equivalent to what the Bruins were commanding after having won the Stanley Cup in 2011. This can largely be attributed to the fact that the team parted ways with head coach Doc Rivers and star players Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett during the offseason.

It`s a changing of the tide in Boston, and the Bruins are without question the hot ticket, at least in terms of professional sports played indoors.
