Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk suffered an MCL sprain in Friday's 107-103 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The injury is expected to sideline Monk for four-to-six weeks, adds Wojnarowski.

Monk exited in the first quarter with what the team initially called a knee injury. The Kings went on to lose their second consecutive meeting with Dallas, which is now two games above Sacramento in the Western Conference standings.

Monk, one of the best bench scorers in the NBA, is averaging 15.6 points and 5.2 assists in 26.4 minutes this season. He's shooting 44.3% from the field and 35.1% from deep.

The Kings sit eighth in the West, but are only half a game behind the Phoenix Suns for seventh. Sacramento has nine games left in the regular season.
