On the same night Joel Embiid dropped a career-high 70 points, Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns broke his own personal mark by scoring 62 in a 128-125 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.

Towns also broke a Minnesota franchise record for most points in a single contest, which he set in 2022 with 60.

The Timberwolves blew a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter, allowing the Hornets to score 36 points in the final frame.

Towns appeared to be fouled on the final possession with his team down 126-125, which would have sent him to the line to potentially win the game.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch ripped his team's effort postgame.

"It was an absolute disgusting performance of defense and immature basketball all the way through the game," Finch said, per Bally Sports North. He added, "This is what happens when you have this type of approach."

Town's 44 first-half points were the most through two quarters since 2003. He'd go on to score 18 points in the second half, with just four coming in the final quarter.

The 28-year-old caught fire from deep, hitting 10 3-pointers. He added eight rebounds and two assists. No other T-Wolves player scored more than 20 points.

Charlotte was led by forwards Miles Bridges and Brandon Miller, who scored 28 and 27 points, respectively.
