76ers' Harris: 'I kind of said F it' to becoming All-Star after 2021 snub
Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris has yet to be named an NBA All-Star during his career, but that doesn't seem to be weighing on him as he enters his 13th season.
In an interview with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Harris explained how his perspective on becoming an All-Star changed after he was snubbed.
"I think I've made the case a few years to be (an All-Star)," he said. "It's something that, as a player, you strive to get. I think after the first one, where I thought I should've made it, I kind of said, 'F it.' There are 12 guys that make it, and it's a tough thing to get into. A lot of it has to do with team success as well. I just let that be my fuel of being on a team that's No. 1 or 2 in the East or when I was in the West."
Harris has stated before that he believes he should've been an All-Star during the 2020-21 season, when he averaged 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting a career-best 51.2% from the field and 39.4% from deep. His then-teammate Ben Simmons, who received an All-Star nod that season, said Harris was "pissed off" by the snub at the time.
The 31-year-old Harris is entering the final year of the five-year, $180-million contract he signed with the 76ers in 2019.
