Philadelphia 76ers guard Mac McClung is among those hoping to see Zion Williamson take part in the 2024 Slam Dunk contest.

McClung, who won this year's dunk contest, told Steve Serby of the New York Post that he thinks the New Orleans Pelicans star would bring in more viewers if he decided to challenge for the crown.

"I would love that," McClung said. "I think he's an amazing dunker and amazing player, I think it would build up the fan base, and it would just be a great time."

Williamson recently teased the possibility of competing in the dunk contest, telling Complex Sports' Riley Jones that he'll "put heavy consideration" into participating in next year's event.

McClung earned high praise for his performance in the 2023 Slam Dunk contest, with some people - including NBA legends Magic Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal - crediting him with saving the event. The 24-year-old has already committed to returning for next year's contest.
