Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been on a tear this season, and Wednesday night's performance against the Washington Wizards was no exception.

After Gilgeous-Alexander recorded 42 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and a game-winner, the crowd in Washington lavished him with "MVP" chants.

"People being fans and recognizing my game is cool," Gilgeous-Alexander said after the game. "It's a pleasure. It's kind of the dream as a kid to make it to the NBA, and you want to be a phenomenal player."

In his fifth NBA season, the Canadian guard is averaging 32.2 points and 5.9 assists per game, both career highs.

He's been on fire over the past few contests, joining Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant as the only players in Thunder history to score 35 points and dish out five assists in three straight games. He can tie Westbrook's franchise record of four straight outings with that stat line Friday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
