The Houston Rockets announced they acquired Derrick Favors, Ty Jerome, Maurice Harkless, Theo Maledon, a 2026 second-round pick, and cash considerations from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for David Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, and Marquese Chriss

The Thunder gain two trade exceptions in the deal and drop about $10 million under the luxury tax, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Additionally, the Rockets are reportedly receiving the second-round pick for taking on $1 million in salary in the deal.

Oklahoma City previously acquired Harkless on Tuesday from the Atlanta Hawks, but he was eligible to be dealt again because he was acquired into the disabled player exception approved from the Chet Holmgren injury, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

The Rockets plan to waive Ty Jerome, sources told The Athletic's Kelly Iko. The No. 24 pick in the 2019 draft averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 81 games over two seasons with the Thunder.

Both teams have 18 guaranteed contracts after the trade and will need to cut three to get down to 15 by Oct. 17. All players involved in the deal are on the last years of their contracts except Maledon and Nwaba, who have team options next season, Marks adds.

Favors averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 16.7 minutes in 39 games last season for OKC. The 31-year-old spent the majority of his career with the Utah Jazz, averaging 11.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in parts of 10 seasons.
