Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Reggie Bullock won the 2021-22 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award, Bullock announced through his Instagram on Sunday.

"Super honored to have won this award! My platform isn't taken for granted, and I'll continue to keep inspiring and doing what's right for my ppl," Bullock wrote.

Bullock advocates for LGBTQ equity and has worked with organizations within the LGBTQ space in the greater Dallas area this season, including Abounding Prosperity, Dallas Southern Pride, House of Rebirth, The Black-Tie Dinner, the Resource Center, and the Muhlashia Booker Foundation.

The Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award, which was introduced last season, is given to a current NBA player who helps in "advancing Abdul-Jabbar's life mission to engage, empower, and drive equality for" historically marginalized or systemically disadvantaged individuals and groups. Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony earned the hardware in its inaugural 2020-21 campaign while still a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The 31-year-old was one of five finalists for the award, along with Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday, Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr., Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, and Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet.

Bullock will receive a $100,000 donation from the NBA to be distributed to a social justice organization of his choosing, while the four finalists will get the chance to donate $25,000 each. Bullock chose to donate the $100,000 to Kinston Teens, a Kinston, North Carolina-based organization that aims to amplify and empower youth voices.
